Glendale has begun a contract to deliver grounds maintenance for social housing provider Newport City Homes in South Wales.
The four-year partnership will see the green services company carrying out work at homes in the city, including grass and hedge cutting, leaf clearance and removal services, combining two previous contracts to create one efficient and cost-effective programme of work.
The contract has created employment opportunities for local people, with 18 new staff and two apprentices recruited.
Established in 2009, Newport City Homes is the largest provider of social housing in Newport, managing and delivering services to more than 10,000 people across the city.
Its aim is to provide homes in communities where people want to live, by investing in homes and neighbourhoods in the city.
Terry Doyle, Glendale’s south-west and south Wales regional director, said: “Working with Newport City Homes has created the perfect partnership between two organisations which both have social value and community interest at the core of the work they do.
“Our experienced team will work hard to improve open spaces and gardens which people can be proud to call home, maintaining the highest level of service delivery, providing opportunities for local employment and making a difference to the community.”
