Stockland Green Awards 2014

Congratulations to general manager of the Glendale Birmingham contract, Tod Hale, in being nominated for the Inspirational Person of the Year title at the Stockland Green Awards 2014.

In an attempt to break down social barriers and improve the local community, Tod has been involved in various projects such as teaming up with Queensbury School to work alongside Glendale in the maintenance of Brookvale Park and providing children with the opportunity to get outdoors and care for their local green space.

The nomination comes in the wake of the success of Operation Peacebulb, a Remembrance Sunday community event that saw over 850 residents plant over 4000 bulbs to break the world bulb planting record.

Tod has successfully united the ideas of local residents, Friends of Brookvale Park and the Police to materialise thoughts and turn plans into action. Utilising the vast stock of bulbs from Glendale’s Merediths Nurseries and calling on the grounds maintenance expertise of the Glendale Birmingham team, Tod arranged the supply and delivery of 4250 Narcissus Tete a Tete bulbs and organised the ground preparation to ensure the flowers planted will leave a lasting legacy that can be enjoyed by generations.

Tod comments, “To see over 1000 people from the local community come together for Operation Peacebulb was awe inspiring. The months of planning and preparation was worth it just to see the enthusiasm of local residents in caring for their green space.

“I don’t see myself as an inspirational person, but I try to be an encourager, supporter, organiser, helper and doer. I would like to congratulate my team, the marketing department and Merediths for all their help.  It took the whole community to make the event happen and I would like to pass my sincerest thanks onto everybody involved.”
