Glendale recognised for their apprenticeship success

Apprentices and staff from the national green service provider, Glendale, joined apprentices, parents and employers from across the UK in celebration of land-based apprenticeships at Myerscough College’s graduation ceremony on Wednesday 8 July.

The event aimed to raise the profile of apprenticeships and validate them as a route to career success equal to University Degrees.

Glendale picked up three awards at the event and the company’s Liverpool based apprentices were recognised for their hard work and success.

Apprentice Tony Jacques was awarded the Land Based Engineering Operations Advanced Apprentice of the Year Award and Glendale Liverpool manager, Peter Cosgrove, received the MyApprentice Champion Award presented by Edwin Booth, college patron and chairman of the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership.

In addition, Glendale Liverpool was named Medium (50-250) Employer of the Year.  Nominations for this award included Fleetwood Town FC, Honeywell Meats and Solutions SK.

During 2014-15, Myerscough College, working with a wide range of employers, have helped 1,400 apprentices achieve nationally recognised qualifications.

Glendale Liverpool currently delivers apprenticeships for 27 local, young people in association with the college, training them in all aspects of horticulture including caring for Liverpool’s parks, cemeteries and recreational spaces.

Peter, comments: “Recruiting apprentices is an effective way of training young people on the job, whilst providing employers with the flexibility to tailor them to fulfil specific job roles.  Our apprentices are long-term investments for the business promoting a sense of purpose and civic pride.”
