Glendale keeps school sports facilities green

Work has begun on a contract awarded to Glendale to provide grounds maintenance for six sports academies in Greater Manchester.

A team from the national green services company will deliver grass cutting and collection services for over 150,000sqm of grass per site every week, on behalf of facilities management company SPIE UK, a leading provider of energy, safety and environmentally focused solutions.

The schools require specialist maintenance to ensure their sports facilities are kept in top condition, including line marking for football pitches, cricket squares and athletic events.

Glendale has invested in specialist sports field maintenance equipment to deliver the work, including scarifiers, rollers and boom sprayers.

Work will be carried out at Irlam and Cadishead College, Moorside High School, St Ambrose Barlow RC High School, St Patricks RC High School and Wright Robinson College, as well as the Wigan Life Centre.

Six full-time positions have been created, including one apprenticeship and potential seasonal roles during summer.  The contract will also cover general horticultural maintenance and clearance work.

“Each site requires specific services with a high level of attention to detail, and our team will use their expertise and extensive experience to deliver this.

“The contract has also led to the creation of new job roles and an opportunity for an apprentice, which is a key priority for Glendale.”
