Glendale celebrates South East in Bloom awards

National green service provider, Glendale, is delighted to support its clients and local communities in the south-east of England in securing regional awards for their parks and green spaces.

To achieve the prestigious award, the parks and green spaces are assessed against three key criteria – horticultural achievement, community participation and environmental responsibility.

Glendale helped its clients and local communities retain South East in Bloom awards across the region including Farnham, Godalming and Lee Valley

South East in Bloom is part of the wider Britain in Bloom campaign organised by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).  The campaign aims to encourage local communities, councils and businesses to transform green spaces across the country and encourage more people to make improvements to their immediate environment.

Over 1,600 communities take part in the regional competitions each year and 80 of those who receive a regional award are selected to participate in the UK finals held by the RHS.

Adrian Wickham, Glendale’s regional director for the south-east, comments: “The Britain in Bloom campaign is a fantastic way of bringing communities and businesses together in order to do something that makes a difference to the places we live and work.  It is something we feel very passionately about.

“Historically, the competition recognised the standard of floral displays in parks and green spaces but over time it has evolved to incorporate the increasing significance of improving the health and wellbeing of both local communities and local green space.

“The accolade is a testament to the huge amount of work put in by everyone involved in keeping these spaces in such magnificent conditions and recognising the value they bring to society.”
