Glendale Attends Bolton at Home’s ‘Stars of the Community Awards’

On Thursday the 23rd  of June 2022, Glendale was lucky to attend and present an award at Bolton at Home’s annual ‘Stars of the Community Awards’, an event that celebrates everyday heroes.

The awards ceremony was held at Bolton FC’s stadium and included a range of categories such as ‘personal achievement star’, ‘the community star’, and ‘climate change star’. However, the award that Glendale sponsored and presented was the ‘sparkling environment star’, for an individual or group that has improved the local environment. We were extremely proud to have sponsored this award, as we feel it’s extremely relevant to our core values as a company, improving environments is what we do and what we’re known for. We believe in a green future, and we strive to try and achieve that.

Bolton at Home is a housing association in Bolton, Glendale rewon the contract to provide their grounds maintenance in 2020. Since then, we’ve been making sure all their properties look fantastic on the outside thanks to the dedication of our Glendale managers, Ann Marie Stevens and Alan Stevens, who continue to do the most outstanding work for their client. From commercial grass cutting to invasive species control, we provide the services that make their residents happy, safe, and living in a beautifully green and vibrant environment.

Originally, the award was meant to be presented by Glendale’s Managing Director North, Mike Brunskill, however, Mike was unable to attend so Glendale’s Corporate Development Director, Adrian Wickham, was more than happy to take his place. Adrian presented the award alongside Richard Hargreaves, Bolton at Home’s Group Director of Property Maintenance. Adrian had a great night, stating:

“The awards brought tears to my eyes from all of the people who were nominated and the winners. Unfortunately, Mike Brunskill, MD North couldn’t attend so I drew the long straw and had one of the most humbling and enjoyable award nights in years.”

Glendale’s focus and knowledge of CSR and community development in housing organisations are born from our collaboration with clients such as Bolton at Homes, who find no project idea “wild, unachievable or silly”.

Adrian presented the Sparkling environment star award to James Clarke, Friends of Moses Gate, winning the award due to his commitment to keeping the local area clean and planting beautiful plants for all the neighbourhood to enjoy.

A massive congratulations to all the winners and nominees of this fantastic awards ceremony.
