Glendale is set to post an increase in turnover of more than 650 per cent for its contract in the North.
Turnover at the end of the financial year for Glendale’s “North West Estates” site is forecast at £630,021 compared to £82,836 in 2014.
In 2016 turnover is expected to eclipse £1m based on current projects alone, a number which is likely to rise as North West Estates continues to seek additional work.
The number of staff employed to work on the contract has also grown from five to 34 since January this year.
North West Estates was established by Glendale in 2010 and was undertaking grounds maintenance services for small term contracts and ad hoc overflow works from other Glendale contracts.
Dave Barkley (pictured above) was appointed contract manager of North West Estates in 2014 and under his direction, the client base grew to ten formal contracts, including contracts with Johnnie Johnson Housing, The Forestry Commission and SPIE UK.
Dave said: “The North West Estates team has worked flat out for the past six months, pricing and tendering for as much work in the region as we could. Each time we completed the process for a client we evaluated our performance, fine-tuning our approach each time.
“The market we’re in is extremely competitive and had we not succeeded it would never have been for a lack of hard work and dedication. We’ve been in a position before where 32 companies are all going for one contract, and there’s no prize for coming second in this process. Business development can be challenging but it’s rewarding when your efforts turn into success.
“This is just the start for North West Estates and our long-term plan is to consolidate our current position, continue to maintain the excellent service we provide to our clients and continue to grow.”
North West Estates is Glendale’s contract in the North, which originally covered the Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside regions but now encompasses 326 locations from the west to the east coast.
