Glendale win first prize at North Somerset Show

Glendale received first prize for its 25th anniversary themed trade stand at the 156th North Somerset Show on 3rd May 2015.

Glendale’s Bristol-based team, headed up by contract manager Jon Eglin, attend the show regularly and were honoured to receive the coveted prize.

This year, in celebration of Glendale’s 25th anniversary, Jon’s team gave away 250 saplings to the visitors at the show to take home and plant in order to start their own landscape legacies.

Jon Eglin comments: “The show went very well and the sun finally came out after a wet Sunday morning!  The 250 saplings went down well, especially with the younger visitors and will hopefully future proof the business in 20 to 30 years time when we get called in to manage them!

“We also managed to get 250 leaflets in the hands of visitors with enough room to plant trees so they know what services we can offer them, as well as some credible leads which we will be following up.”

The event was also a great opportunity for Jon to do something for his team to mark the company’s anniversary, he continues: “As a thank you for their continued hard work I invited my staff and their partners to join me for lunch on the prize-winning stand.  It was a nod to the 25th anniversary which focuses on celebrating the commitment of our employees, so we went a bit retro and served a popular lunch from the 1990’s, a Ploughman’s!”

The North Somerset Show has been hosted by the North Somerset Agricultural Society (NSAS) since the 1900’s.  It is an annual show featuring livestock, horse, poultry and waterfowl showings as well as trade stands for local businesses to demonstrate their services and produce.

Glendale’s team, led by supervisor Iain Macfarlane, are also heavily involved in The NSAS’s annual Countryside Day.  Countryside Day is an educational event for school children in Bristol and North Somerset and aims to teach children about where their food comes from and inspire them with career and leisure opportunities available in the countryside.
