Glendale helps clean for the Queen

A team from specialist green service provider Glendale has done its bit to clear up Britain ready for Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Kim Iverson, Lenford Mason, Derek Bardon and Anna Schauker from Glendale’s multi-service contract in North Somerset volunteered their time on Saturday 11th March to litter pick and clear local sites across the district.

The team joined members of the local community and collected over two tons of waste.

David Buckley, contract manager, comments: “The Clean for the Queen campaign is a great way of encouraging local community groups, councils, businesses and schools across the country to get together to make a difference and clear up their local area.  We were very proud to be involved in helping to keep North Somerset clean and contributing to this great initiative.

“About 2.25 million pieces of litter are dropped on UK streets every day and this has a massive effect on our health and the health of our wildlife.   Keeping our green spaces clean and litter free is really important for protecting the environment and also encouraging a sense of local pride.”

The Clean for the Queen initiative is led by Country Life and supported by Keep Britain Tidy and the Garfield Weston Foundation.
