Glendale has won a four-year framework to provide arboriculture and tree services in Basildon, Essex, on behalf of Basildon Borough Council.
The national green services provider will carry out specialisms ranging from light clearance work to crown reductions on a range of different species and size of the tree.
It will also offer an emergency call out service and the framework will improve public safety in the borough, as well as sustaining the long-term health of trees across Basildon.
A recent report by Yale University in the US revealed that 15 billion trees are being lost each year as a result of deforestation, tree management and changes in land use, and Glendale has previously spoken out about the importance of taking proper care of the UK’s trees.
John McKenna, Glendale’s operations manager for London and the south-east, said: “We have long advocated that the presence of well-maintained trees provides a significant enhancement, not only to the aesthetics of an area but also to the quality of life of its residents.
“In Basildon, we will ensure this aspect of the environment is managed in a way which is thorough, cost-effective, minimises risk, and provides our client – as well as the people living in and visiting the area – with an attractive, green environment.”
Councillor Blake, lead member for leisure and the arts at Basildon Borough Council said: “The council is ensuring that the borough is kept green and safe by maintaining our current tree stock and replacing old trees with new ones for the benefit of all our residents.”
Glendale is an expert in arboriculture and tree surgery and its specialisms include hazardous tree removals, vegetation management, tree stump grinding and removal, tree relocation and tree supply, planting and aftercare.
It was awarded the framework with Basildon Borough Council following a competitive tender process and is one of 12 selected suppliers.
