Nocturnal habits – Glendale’s specialists take on a night project

A team of arborists from national green service provider Glendale were called upon to fell 30 trees, which were affected by diseases.

Due to the height of the trees and their close proximity to a major road in Surrey, Glendale’s experienced team opted to fell the trees at night, and took advantage of an overnight road closure set up by Surrey County Council’s road surfacing team.

Phil Hyatt, contract manager, comments: “This would be a demanding project for the team under normal circumstances, but with the added challenge of completing the task in the dark and fitting the activities around the road resurfacing team, it tested all of their experience and ability.

“The team successfully completed the project, making use of head torches and an improvised floodlight system, built onto one of the MEWPs, to carry out the work safely and efficiently.”
