Green space service provider Glendale has been providing arboricultural services on behalf of Aster Group since March 2016.
The contract sees Glendale’s tree specialists managing 30,000 trees on 560 estates across Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset on behalf of the housing developer and landlord.
The teams deliver a range of services including pruning, crown lifting, thinning, reductions, balancing, coppicing, dead wooding and stump grinding as part of a schedule of programmed works and in response to tree work requests. They also provide a 24-hour call out service for tree-related emergencies.
Barry Wareham, contract manager, comments: “We’re very pleased to be able to provide arboriculture services on behalf of Aster Group. The three-year contract will allow us to provide a programme of services in response to a series of informal surveys and visual tree inspections that are essential to mitigate risks to the public or property. The works will also improve the condition of the trees and generally rejuvenate Aster’s tree stock going forward.”
The success of the contract so far has created an opportunity for Barry to expand the number of teams currently delivering the service.
He continues: “At present, our Blandford Forum based arborist teams are managing tree stock in Hampshire, Dorset and North Wiltshire, and our Bristol office looking after parts of West Wiltshire and Somerset. I hope to set up an additional team in Blandford Forum in order to improve efficiency even further and have one team dedicated to the scheduled works and another delivering the responsive services.”
The contract also employs one apprentice who is undertaking a level 2 arboricultural qualification in association with Kingston Maurward College.
