Glendale are currently seeking a Nature Conservation Officer to work towards enhancing biodiversity, protecting habitats and leading community volunteering events and activities in the parks across Lewisham.

The Opportunity

This is an outstanding career opportunity with a market leader to deliver conservation in Lewisham parks and open spaces.

This will involve direct engagement with members of the community, park friends groups and various different stakeholders. You will work closely with Lewisham Council’s Park and Open Spaces team. You will lead groups of volunteers to carry out practical conservation activities, enhance habitats for biodiversity and environmental education activities with local schools.

The role will be the first point of contact with groups and individuals expressing an interest in community and volunteer activities. This will include supporting park friends groups and empowering our community in the maintenance and management of park facilities.

You will also be responsible for managing the invasive species database and you will assist friends groups with applying for funding for park improvement and conservation projects. This will also include writing bids and project management.

The Person

Candidates should be well organised, and have skills in people and project management, with a passion for parks, conservation, countryside & natural environment maintenance. The successful candidate shall have a track record in the supervision of community, environmental or public facing projects.
