This is an outstanding career opportunity with a market leader providing green services to private and public sector businesses. 

The role of Grounds Maintenance Operative at London Borough of Enfield is essential in the service provision for the maintenance of the highways and housing, grass areas, horticultural features: shrub beds, hedges.   

The Opportunity

You will report to the Contract Supervisor and/or the designated team leader on a daily basis. This is a full time temporary position, working a 40-hour week.

Duties include: 

  • Keeping all designated landscape areas neat and tidy, as necessary and as per the contract work schedule.
  • Ensuring that all green waste material is collected and disposed of at the appropriate recycling centre 
  • Assisting higher graded staff with their work, in more skilled tasks.
  • Assisting with Grounds Maintenance works for and at other Glendale contracts as and when necessary.
  • Carrying out additional works, as and when they arise, to complete contracts from other companies.
  • Completing paperwork provided by the company, which in the main is for monitoring purposes.
  • The upkeep, as per Glendale policies, of company vehicles, machinery, tools and PPE, which are available and are provided to undertake this role.

The Person

  • Proactive member of staff with a passion for grounds maintenance, outdoor working, countryside  and the environment
  • The candidate will have good organisational and interpersonal skills: be able to deal with clients and the public and work in a team
  • Be able to work to undertake duties with  minimum of supervision
  • The ideal candidate will have practical knowledge and skills in grounds maintenance, including pedestrian and ride-on grass cutting 
  • Landscaping experience – Digger and Dumper ticket, Trailer license, Chapter 8 and CAT & Genny
