General Manager  

North Somerset – Weston-super-Mare

Our innovative £2.5m p.a. multi services partnership contract with North Somerset Council requires a General Manager to oversee the smooth running of the contract. The contract operates 7-days a week from 6am – 8pm and includes street cleansing, recycling services, beach management, grounds maintenance and arboriculture, employing 60 staff at peak times.

The Opportunity

A critical part of the regional senior team, you will be working with a team of four Supervisors and three Lead Chargehands. The role requires a strong people manager with the ability to be flexible, work unsupervised, manage change and problem solve whilst understanding the needs of a modern, forward thinking service with customers and the community at the heart of the service.

Based at our office in Weston-super-Mare, the successful candidate will be a proactive manager who will be able to offer strong operational, financial and commercial management.

This is a hands on role involving the monitoring of KPI’s, quality and performance, taking quick and effective action to maintain high productivity, quality, client satisfaction and profits. You will have full responsibility for the performance of this best practice contract with ongoing continual improvements required to meet the needs of all stakeholders of the service and the evolution of the service over a long-term delivery programme.

The Person

Candidate should be qualified in grounds maintenance, street cleansing or a similar background with a minimum of 5 years management/supervisory experience in a similar role and hold a UK drivers licence. Ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards, whilst maintaining tight control of costs, programming and monitoring of work are all pivotal to the role. In addition, you will need good time management and administrative skills, display good people management, coupled with excellent communication skills.
