Contracts Manager (Arboriculture)

Glendale arboriculture is a specialist activity carried out by trained and experienced professionals dedicated to the provision of the service and operating under the name ‘Glendale Countryside’. Under the current Strategic Plan, Glendale Countryside is also responsible for land management and vegetation management. When the Strategic Plan is revised, it is likely that new responsibilities shall be included, such as visitor attractions.

Glendale Countryside is now seeking to become the largest arboricultural business in the UK.

We were awarded our first arboricultural contract by Solihull MBC in 1990 (and continue to be the service provider after 14 years); we have grown from providing a simple, reactive, client-directed contracting service to offering a comprehensive arboricultural service, from initial survey to the development of work programmes respecting client budgets to supervising and monitoring our own works on site.

The business is seeking to appoint a full time, permanent, Contract Supervisor.

The Opportunity

The Arboriculture Contract Supervisor will report to the Contract Manager and will be responsible for the management of an operational team of up to 18 employees, based at our depot in Waltham Abbey, Essex. The individual will be expected to support the development of Arboricultural credibility within the sector by ensuring consistency in service delivery and standards.

The role demands an individual with good leadership skills, operational skills and the ability to build relationships with customers, clients and suppliers. The role will support the strategy of Glendale Countryside by adopting appropriate practices and measures in order to achieve determined targets.

The Person

  • Must have a full and clean driving licence
  • Good time management skills and the ability to work in a demanding environment.
  • Enthusiasm, good communication skills and a good understanding of health and safety are essential.
  • Understand and subscribe to the importance of working as a team

The Contract Supervisor’s key responsibilities will be to:

  • Contribute fully to the effective service delivery of operations within the South East Region.
  • Provide the leadership required to the operational objectives of SE Arbor
  • Be technically able and play a proactive role in securing new business for Glendale

Countryside in partnership with the Sales team.

  • Maintain good relations with existing clients, by managing and meeting the needs of localised systems
  • Build and maintain a sound organisational structure, recruiting, training and motivating

Arboricultural staff within the region

  • Support the Contract Manager in monitoring the performance of the operation through the proper Company accounting and reporting procedures; including overseeing the submission of contract estimates and forecasts
  • Safeguard and develop the company’s image and credibility
  • Take responsibility for health and safety and actively participate in the maintenance and improvement of the overall Company Health and Safety culture
  • Ensure the maintenance of Quality Standards in particular the application of the Company Quality System. Ensure the Quality System is maintained to BS EN 9001 standard at the contract.
  • Ensure the maintenance of Environmental Standards and compliance with the BS EN ISO 14001:1996 standard at the contract.
