ROLE PURPOSE

 

The role of the contract manager is to effectively manage all of the operational, financial and business development matters of defined contracts with the GEM Midlands region, ensuring that a profitable contribution is made and that all client and staff matters are handled effectively and in accordance with Glendale policy.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

The Contract Manager’s key responsibilities will be to:

 

  • Input into and implement the strategy for the business of Glendale 
  • Full responsibility for the effective running of the identified contract within the business unit and deputisation for the Regional Manager
  • Participate in securing the long-term future of the region through sustainable business development and staff retention/development
  • Provide the leadership required to meet objectives
  • Be technically able and play a proactive role in securing new business for Glendale 
  • Maintain good relations with existing clients
  • Build and maintain a sound organisational structure, recruiting, training and motivating staff within the region
  • Monitor the performance of the operation through Company systems and ensure utilisation of IT systems throughout the region
  • Safeguard the company’s image and credibility
  • Take responsibility for health and safety and actively participate in the maintenance and improvement of the overall Company Health and Safety culture in line with OHAS 18001 standards.
  • Ensure the maintenance of Quality Standards in particular the application of the Company Quality System. Ensure the Quality System is maintained to BS EN 9001 standard at the contract.
  • ure the maintenance of Environmental Standards and compliance with the BS EN ISO 14001:1996 standard at the contract.

 

The role of the Contract Manager can never be defined fully, but in all matters the candidate must demonstrate leadership and command respect within the business.  All decisions must be communicated clearly both to those responsible to the post holder and to those persons the post holder reports to. 

 

The Contract Manager should also be prepared to take the initiative and continually improve operational activity.  The candidate requires ambition and a high level of commitment.  The Contract Manager is critical to decision making processes within the business and must gain the trust and loyalty of all stakeholders in the company.

Qualifications and requirements

  • A nationally recognised academic qualification to at least NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, for example:
  • the National Certificate (BTEC or EdExcel) ~ NVQ Level 3 ~, or
  • the Advanced National Certificate, or
  • the National Diploma

 

A full, clean, driving licence is an essential requirement for this role.
