At Glendale, we have a great new opportunity for an Assistant Manager.

The Assistant Contract Manager should also be prepared to take the initiative and continually improve operational activity. The person requires ambition and a high level of commitment. The Assistant Contract Manager is critical to decision-making processes within the business and must gain the trust and loyalty of all the stakeholders in the company

The role is based at our head office near Chorley and will involve travelling as required across Lancashire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.

Who are you?

The successful candidate shall have a track record as a Manager/Supervisor in a small/medium sized enterprise, preferably with 5 years experience of grounds maintenance. They shall be characterised by a contracts management background and the successful creation of strong, outgoing client relationships.

  • Strong leadership and relationship building skills.

  • a clear identification with the requirements of Glendale Countryside’s customers.
  • the ability to manage geographically dispersed operations for multiple clients.

A Glimpse into the Role awaiting You…

The main responsibilities for the Assistant Contract Manager will be:

  • to provide the leadership required to meet local objectives, directing the commercial activity of the contract under his/her control to secure a level of financial performance that is at least as good as budgeted.
  • to monitor the financial performance of the contract under his/her control through the company’s financial and reporting procedures, and to assist the General Manager in the setting of budgets.
  • to contribute fully to the effective running of Glendale, working with the General Manager to build and maintain a sound and effective organisational structure, recruiting, training and motivating staff in accordance with the company’s HR policies and procedures.
  • Identify and price additional revenue opportunities for the existing client base and support the bidding process for new commercial business opportunities
  • to build, develop and maintain good working relationships with the company’s stakeholders, safeguarding the company’s image and credibility.
  • to support the Regional Health and Safety Advisor by monitoring health, safety and welfare within his/her area of operational responsibility, and to actively participate in the maintenance and improvement of the company’s overall health, safety and welfare culture.
  • to ensure the maintenance of quality standards, in particular the application of the company’s Quality Management Systems for BS EN 9001:2000 and BS EN ISO 14001:1996.

A full, clean, driving licence is an essential requirement due to the nature of this role.
